Yesterday was the closing ceremony of the SuperTeens Workshop @ Hougang Sec.
The Vice Principal of the school was invited up on stage to speak.
And this was what he said"
"Be Grateful to your friends, be grateful to your teachers, and most importantly, be grateful to your Parents."
He then went on to say;
"be grateful not for the physical things, the phones, the computers, etc"
"Be Grateful, instead, for the relationship you have with them."

This reminded me of what Peter Lau, Co-trainer of the Super-Teen Programme once said to me.
He asked me what i would want to take away with me when i die.
And then he said that he wants to take away the memories.

Many times we yearn to be materialistic.
We want this gadget, we want that gadget.
What's really important?
What really gives you happiness?
Do these physical items really give you happiness?

Happiness to me is being contented and satisfied with what i have.
I can be wanting this and that,
but what i really want,
and what i would really Cherish,
is the relationship i have with those around me.

Cherish and treasure.
For once you lose them, you may never get them back.
